The People and Place tour guide is Andrew Fidler - a Kiwi who has lived in the Nelson region for 14 years but who still sees the region with the eyes of a new-comer.
Andrew is a reformed scientist (PhD, molecular biology) who now describes his profession as an ‘independent historian’. Andrew’s travels, wide-reading and on-going study at the ‘university of life’ provide foundations for the tours he develops.
In addition to the standard People and Place historical tour Andrew is happy to develop personalised tours, around the northern half of the South Island, on themes of interest – just contact him with your ideas and interests and he’ll let you know what he thinks is possible.
Andrew speaks fluent English, conversational American and very basic German. He will try to inform, amuse and illuminate and even to admit when he does not know the answer.
